5+1 Crazy Stunts Jobseekers Have Done to Get a Job

When it comes to applying for jobs, it is crucial to remember that the first impression counts because your application should create a great first impression to get a foot in the door. There’s no way of knowing how many candidates you are competing against, what their pros are and what aces they have up their sleeves. Thinking and acting out-of-the-box is all you can do to prepare an application that will stand out and highlight your key skills and competencies. Just get your creative juices flowing and do something different. The following are a few jaw-dropping ideas candidates have used to apply for a job and set themselves apart from the competition.

#1 Out of the Box

Colm O’Connor, an Irish graphic designer, artist and illustrator came up with this flat-pack box printed with his resume as part of his university course work. His mission was to create a self-promotion pack for a single design agency. The inside part of the box read “I know what you’re thinking. Whaat is this?!! & Who sent it to me? Well that would be me”. Interestingly, he was recognised as a ‘CV Superstar’ for  Self promotion Box – ’14.

#2 Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells CVs All the Way!

Liz Hickok, a job seeker in Georgia, made the most of the holiday decorating to light up her resume on the side of her home and get noticed. What a better way to show her fun and creative side to land a new gig! The message read “’My wish, HR job, Liz Hickok, Linked In.". It worked, Hickok  got plenty of messages on LinkedIn and has heard from people as far as Italy.

#3 Literally ‘Got a Foot in the Door’

Well, one woman took the classic advice that is often given to jobseekers, ‘to get a foot in the door’ seriously, and sent a PR company a shoe along with her CV.

#4 Star recruit

This jobseeker, inspired by the Wild West culture, came up with this ‘Wanted’ poster resume to highlight her key qualities as the reward for the ‘lucky’ employer who would hire her. This idea was one of more than 1,000 received by FRANK PR each year.

#5 Try “good job voodoo spell”

Some have even tried this DoktorSnake "good job voodoo spell" to try and land a job

In a bid to make unemployment a thing of the past, desperate jobseekers turned to the supernatural for aid. Thanks to the legendary voodoo man Doktor Snake who provides voodoo spell casting services, people can secure the job of their dreams and even get promoted with just a click. Doctor Snake sells job spells for $120 to give job hopefuls a competitive edge.

 

#6 BONUS: Buy My Face

BONUS: These two guys didn’t want to face the tough job market, so they sell advertising ... on their faces

These two guys from the UK, Ross Harper and Ed Moyse decided to avoid the prospect of graduating without getting a job by launching BuyMyFace. The concept is actually quite simple they sell advertising space on their faces. So someone can choose a day, upload an image and the guys will display it on their faces.
