If you’re more than 50 years old, it doesn’t mean that your life is over. There’re some great jobs to choose from. Check out this article to find out.

Growing older doesn’t mean that no one is going to employee you. While the retirement age is different for every country, the average retirement age is sixty-five, which still gives you another fifteen years of work after you reach the age of fifty. So, whether you are looking for another job or considering of changing careers, there are plenty of choices out there. All that you have to do is find the one that’s most suited to your own needs.

These are some great career options to consider when you are over fifty years old.

1. Medical Assistant

The health care sector is gradually growing which means there is going to be an ongoing demand for medical personnel. Becoming a medical assistant doesn’t require any formal training, though there are many certifications for it. As a medical assistant you will be carrying out administrative duties, answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients’ medical records and scheduling appointments. The hourly salary is about $13,64.

2. Courier or Messenger

This isn’t your usual office job, though you will be probably expected to visit many offices as a messenger. Your job duties will involve delivering documents and packages between offices or other selected locations, and you may travel on foot, by bike, by car or public transport. As a messenger, you will get paid about $13,08 per hour and you will meet a lot of people expanding your network.

3. Security Guard Supervisors

This definitely sounds like a cool job. I mean who wouldn’t want to do it? Even at the age of fifty, you have to admit; there is a certain thrill to it. Security guard supervisors are responsible for monitoring places to prevent theft or ensure appropriate behavior. They also manage other people; they hire, schedule and manage other guards to their posts. As a security guard supervisor, you can get a job at a security company, hospital or school and earn a salary of $10,49 per hour.

4. Guides

Being a guide can be a fun job. As a guide, you will be responsible for escorting people through interesting places including museums, art galleries and other historic sites providing details about the monuments or the place. If you are passionate about history and love meeting new people, this job is definitely suited to you. The hourly salary for this job is $11,36.

5. Convention Meeting/Event Planner

Government reports showed that this profession will see 43.7 percent growth by 2020 which is very optimistic for those interested in becoming event planners. You don’t need a degree to get a job as an event planner though you will need important skills such as resilience and patience. Being able to manage your time will definitely count as a plus. As an event planner, you will get paid about $22,52 per hour.
