There are many tips from industry experts and good advice available on the best morning rituals to do to set yourself up for a productive and successful day. After having read multiple sources and compared notes, I found that the typical ‘7 minute workout’ and ‘eat a healthy breakfast’ tips just don’t cut it. We need to delve deeper into the psyche to truly achieve our full potential each day.
Stephan from Project Life Mastery has posted this incredibly inspiring video on his own morning rituals to ensure he is productive, happy and motivated all day, every day. I have provided a brief breakdown of the first 5 rituals covered in his video, but be sure to watch the full video to find out all his tips for ultimate success.
#1 Smile, breathe, stretch, repeat
It is important to wake up in the right frame of mind, and this can be easily achieved through simple activities that are often overlooked by most people. Force yourself to physically smile as soon as you awaken, then take in deep diaphragmic breaths to feed our body the clean oxygen it needs. Lastly, stretch. You need to stretch every part of your body to help your body waken up along with your mind. This is all done from your bed!
#2 Drink a lot of water
As soon as you rise out of bed, head to the kitchen and drink a glass (or two if you can manage it) of water. If you want, you can add in fresh lemon to help detox your body. Your body is naturally dehydrated first thing in the morning, and so even if you do not feel thirsty, your body is craving water!
#3 Get your body moving
Whether you can go for a 5-10 minute brisk walk or use a trampoline (as seen in the video), you need to do something to help get your blood circulating and body pumping to set you up for the day. With your heart racing you are breathing in much needed oxygen and exhaling toxins from your body.
This refers to how you think. You need to feed your mind with positive mental thoughts. You can do this by reminding yourself of your beliefs, your aspirations, your motivations in life and your goals you want to achieve both that day and in the long term. You need to know that every day is a step closer to achieving your goals, and the more aware you are of this, the more likely it is that you will take each day seriously and be as productive as possible.
#5 Read 10 Pages
A popular ritual that some of the most successful and influential CEOs do is that of reading, not just any books, but books that inspire and motivate. If you can manage a couple of pages in the morning, it will help inspire you and set you up for the day. If you commit to reading 30 pages per day, you can possibly complete one book per month. That is a phenomenal amount of knowledge to absorb when you consider that you could potentially read 12 books in just one year!
