If you’re looking for a career, you definitely want to consider IT! Not only is it a growing field with more and more job opportunities every year, there are also a lot of good reasons to become an IT expert:
1. The server room makes for an excellent nap spot
Dark, cool, and rarely visited: it doesn’t get better than this! You’ll find that you can catch a solid hour or two of sleep uninterrupted – just don’t let anyone see you bringing your blankets there.
2. All you need to get out of work is a cup of coffee and a computer
Walk with a purposeful look in your eye and keep that laptop tucked under your arm, and people will immediately assume that you’re working hard.
3. You’re allowed to surf the Internet
Seeing as you’re the IT guy, there’s no one to check your Internet use. You need iIternet access for making computer repairs, so you can easily surf the web any time you want.
4. You’re treated like a hero when you do easy tasks
If someone’s computer is malfunctioning, you’re the guy they call to come and make the repairs. The look of gratitude you get when you finally finished the repairs is highly gratifying, and people are very thankful for your efforts. Don’t tell them that all you did was restart the computer and fiddle with a few things to make it look like you are working hard!
5. You get paid because people are idiots
How many times have you been called into the office to help someone fix something ridiculously simple? You’re probably paid more than they are, and your job is almost always a lot easier than theirs.
6. You know exactly who is doing what, where, and when
As the IT expert, you’re the one who monitors everyone’s Internet usage. If someone is chatting with co-workers, surfing porn on the Internet, or using their work computer to search for a new job, you know about it. Talk about handy blackmail material when you want to get out of an unpleasant duty!
7. It’s SO easy to pull pranks
Want to enjoy the time you spend at the office every day? Buy one of those prank USB drives and install it onto your victim’s computer when you go for some “routine maintenance”. They’ll never suspect what you’re doing, and it will be AMAZINGLY fun to watch them struggle with their computer.
8. You get to use your position to your advantage
Is there a fellow co-worker that is p*ssing you off? You can delay repairing their computer for days just to teach them a lesson. Pretty girl that needs your help? Why, all of a sudden, it seems you have a lot of free time to hang around her desk and deal with her “complex problem”.
Yes, life is good as an IT expert! There are plenty of reasons to consider a career in IT, so it’s time to get studying.
