How to Apply the Law of Attraction in Your Professional Life

The Law of Attraction is a fairly simple concept -- like attracts like. In other words, "focusing on positive or negative thoughts can bring about positive or negative results."

The theory might seem a bit far-fetched, especially if you think of yourself as a positive person, yet life keeps throwing you curve balls. But given the number of real-life stories related to the Law of Attraction, there might be some truth behind the belief. And if there is truth, applying the concept in your everyday life can by extension improve your professional life.

This doesn't mean that changing your mindset will result in overnight success. It might take months or longer to reach success, depending on the nature of your goals.

However, whether you're looking to advance the corporate ladder, or you're unhappy in your job search, maintaining a positive attitude can increase your motivation, thus giving you the strength and willpower to achieve your career goal.

Here are five ways to apply the Law of Attraction in your professional life.

#1 Imagine Your Dream job

Don't think that your dream job is impossible. You have the ability to achieve any level of professional success. Determine your desired career path, and then imagine yourself in the position. Visualise yourself interacting with coworkers and other colleagues. Focus on how this position will have a positive impact on your life. In addition, share your dreams with friends and family, or post your professional goals in a visible area.

#2 Align your Actions With Your Career Goals

It takes more than positive thoughts to achieve professional success, you need to be proactive and take steps to reach your goals. You might believe that a better job is right around the corner, but if you don't seek out and apply for these jobs, or take steps to get your foot in the door (i.e. improving your resume, increasing your interview skills, etc.), you won't get the job.

Similarly, if you're hoping to break into a new field, you'll need to develop your skills and acquire the right credentials. You can also take charge of your professional life in other ways. For example, take the initiative at work and ask your boss for more challenging assignments.

#3 Remain Positive Even if you Don't get the job

In all honesty, not every interview will end with a job offer. Rather than becoming discouraged, think of it as a positive. Tell yourself that it wasn't the right opportunity for you. Also, you must believe that the perfect job is right around the corner.

#4 Stop Focusing on Past Mistakes

Everyone makes career mistakes. Maybe a negative attitude in the past hindered your professional growth, or maybe you declined an opportunity due to fear of failure. Regardless of what happened in the past, don't let it dictate your future. Go forward, focus on today and the future.

#5 Remember Your Strengths

You may become discouraged if it takes longer to achieve professional success, and you might question your abilities. To keep your thoughts positive, never stop impoving your skills. Additionally, regularly think about your achievements over the years. Pull out some of your old performance reviews and reflect on positive remarks from your superiors. And if colleagues have sent commendation via email or text message, reading these messages can provide the reassurance and confidence you need to succeed.

Are you looking to take your career to the next level? If so, how do you plan to apply the Law of Attraction to reach your professional goals?
