Are There Enough Women in Healthcare? [Infographic]

A recent survey has shown that healthcare is dominated by women in the US. Despite this dominance, however, there aren’t many women in leadership roles in healthcare as they only make up 34 percent of the executives in the country’s top 100 hospitals. Instead, women are primarily employed as medical assistants, physical therapy aides, dental assistants and social workers, accounting for 78 percent of the healthcare and social assistance workforce.

This infographic from allAlliedHealthSchools, presents some very useful data in regards to the numbers of women female employed in each profession and provides some insights into the fields future prospects. The infographic also refers to some prominent female personalities such as Sylvia Mathews Burwell, Karen B. DeSalvo and Halle Tecco, who successfully managed to establish themselves as leaders in the healthcare industry.
