Careers with Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Personal Affairs Office is responsible for the recruitment of employees for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Poland. The primary duties of the Personal Affairs Office are broad, and include:

  • Recruitment to foreign service and of foreign employees to the Ministry

  • Organization of diplomatic and consular applications

  • Employee pension matters

  • Employee staff reviews and appraisals

  • Assisting in the obtaining of visas

Recruitment of individuals to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Personal Affairs Office recruits individuals based on the provisions outlined in the Civil Service Law (24 August 2006).

The recruitment process is based on a competitive, non-discriminatory, and fair system by which all candidates who meet the entry conditions are thereby eligible for employment as a civil servant with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Typical entry conditions include:

  • Professional background

  • Skills

  • Capabilities in performing the job applied for

  • Candidate’s motivation to work for the Ministry

  • Passing of entrance exams

  • Applicant must be a Polish citizen

  • Hold a Masters degree for diplomatic and consular positions

  • Proficiency in two languages (one of which must be English)

  • No previous criminal record

  • Good mental and physical health
