Civilian Employment with the Polish Police

The National Police force of Poland provides excellent career prospects to qualified police officers, but also to civilians who seek ‘civilian employment’. Essentially, civilian employment refers to all forms of employment whereby the individual is employed by the police, but does not perform police officer duties and has not completed police training at an academy. Individuals under this type of employment are often referred to as ‘non uniform’ employees.

Examples of civilian employment with the police include:

  • Translators

  • Speakers and experts in specialist fields

  • Administrative personnel

  • Clerical support

  • Human resources management

  • Logistics

  • Security

Certain conditions must be met in order to apply for a civilian employment position with the police. This requirements may vary depending on the type of position applied for the level of responsibly associated with the vacancy. However, the main conditions that must be met include:

  • Hold Polish citizenship

  • Have full civil rights in Poland

  • Possess a character of good standing

  • Hold the necessary qualifications required for the position

  • Have the required experience

  • No criminal record of previous fiscal offenses

The basic recruitment process for civilian positions with the National Police force in Poland is as follows:

  1. Monitor relevant sites for the latest vacancies, including the website of the provincial command and the Bulletin of the Public Information office of the Prime Minister.

  2. Submit a letter of application for the specific position, detailing that you meet all the necessary requirements for the position.

  3. Submission of relevant ID will be required

  4. Results of the recruitment process (names of applicants etc) are published in the organizational unit of the public.
