Who said that dogs don’t get along with kittens? Boots, a 12 year-old chow and German shepherd mix, has found a successful new life as a volunteer nanny for nervous kittens at an animal shelter run by the Arizona Humane Society.
The dog was saved by the AHS during the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts ten years ago and is now serving as the guardian of the kittens every Wednesday morning. He’s greeting kittens coming into the shelter and gives them a welcome cuddle.
It seems that the gets on with the kittens so far and has even made a few friends. According to the AHS public relations manager, Bretta Nelson, Boots has befriended three female black kittens who especially love him. Boot’s harmonious relationship with kittens breaks the myth that cats don’t get along with dogs, therefore kitten adoptability is set to rise, “since kittens are able to adapt to homes with dogs in them”.
