Okay, let’s face it: getting hired by a 9-5 job seems rather dull these days. Consider working for Facebook and this article provides you with tips on how to do just that. So let’s duke it out:
1. Submit a kick-ass résumé
For one, Facebook, just like any other corporation, is a well-known business. Mark Zuckerberg generally wants to hire someone he can also see himself working for. So, if a résumé oozes with a terrible stench of grammatical errors and is filled with questionable job-hopping red flags, then you can be assured that you will not land that Facebook dream job. However, once you submitted a résumé that you consider of high quality standards by researching online templates and the like, then the true fun begins. Also, make sure to include your expertise of your computer savvy – really hone down to what you’re looking for in the company. Empower your résumé, and ultimately yourself, by targeting your audience and/or the position you are trying to apply for. For example, build your résumé from scratch if needed with templates that are designed for specific careers. If your dream job within Facebook happens to be technical, then include a format that lists your experience in bullets and provides a summary at the very top of the résumé. Not only that, but search executive design templates rather than traditional design résumé templates from search engines such as, but not limited to, Google or Yahoo!
2. Phone interview and ongoing interviews
The very next step is a chance to show your perfect imperfections of how you want to be seen as a Facebook employee. You want to sell yourself as much as possible; in particular, your expertise on what you want to accomplish working for Facebook. Be prepared to answer questions that include, but are not limited to, your interests, motivation, résumé, job-related questions, and expertise. If possible, get together with a buddy who can prep you for the big interview. Do not listen to those voices in your head, if applicable, but all kidding aside, do not – I repeat do not – let pessimistic thoughts cloud and stray you from your next big break. This is where you can either hit rock bottom or make the right moves to flourish. That same day, if and when the first phone interview is exceptional, then the process will proceed to further ongoing interviews. You will have a further opportunity to market yourself and either be your advocate or worst enemy. These series of interviews are conducted on an on-site location and typically last anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour. So, again: make sure to dress for the part and feel your best!
3. Practice, practice, and some more practice
At this time, you can kick back just a little bit and relax, but not for too long because this is where it boils down to: do you really have what it takes to work for Facebook? You will be given a series of technical support coding materials and/or handed a computer where you will show beyond your level of confidence but actual in-depth knowledge of being a social media guru. So, before the interview, make sure to practice, practice, and practice some more for that which you are applying.
Remember to have fun during the entire process, which in itself shows true workmanship. Have fun! And let us know if you landed your dream job at Facebook! And in the words of my late grandmother: “get ‘em, tiger!”
