Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia and is home to the JCLEC – Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation. The JCLEC was established in 2004 and is part of the Indonesian National Police Academy (AKPOL) in Semerang. The purpose of the centre is to provide international education and training for law enforcement personnel.

The primary goals of the JCLEC are:

  • Strengthen law enforcement response capability

  • Deter terrorism

  • Develop and implement investigative management capabilities

  • Improve criminal intelligence skills

  • Enhance forensic capability

  • Strengthen new domestic and international law enforcement networks

  • Utilize and develop science and technology

Entry to the police-training centre is competitive, and only those who satisfy the entry conditions will gain a placement at the college. The training and study programs provided by the college cover an array of law enforcement subject matters, giving graduates from the center a good standing for police force duties once they join.

The primary educational training programs include:

  • Investigations

  • Intelligence

  • Forensics

  • Financial investigations

  • Communications

  • Computer based training

  • Research
