A cocktail waiter who has mastered his skills makes his job look very easy. It is fun work and a very easy way to earn good tips besides the hourly pay. It however requires for the ability to multitask easily, be fast in your movement and at the same time stay level-headed. You can make a great cocktail waiter by learning the tricks of the job and constantly improving yourself.
Always be prepared for your next shift. Ensure that your trays and glasses are clean; your pen, pad and table napkins are at hand. This enables you to work fast when your customers begin to trickle in, saving you time you would have wasted looking for supplies. Confirm with the bartender that the bar stock is enough for the shift. If you are new at the job, ensure that you know the drinks, contents, and cost. This is a job that involves lots of movement and you therefore need to be energetic; make sure that you have had a meal and are well rested when you come in for your shift.
Remember that you are a professional and whoever you deal with is a client. Stay ahead of the game, knowing your customers and what they want. Avoid keeping them waiting for their orders and refills, deliver drinks quickly working with urgency all the time. This enables you to serve more customers at a given time and show that you really want to earn that tip. You may find yourself in an upsetting situation with a customer; always stay calm. Be careful not to offend a customer, stay professional and if things get out of hand alert whoever is in charge.
Neatness is key in this profession. You need to take a bath or shower before you report to work. Ensure that you are presentable. For women it is important that their hair is held back off their face to avoid bushing it from their eyes all the time. Wear a well-pressed uniform and clean shoes and ensure your fingernails are well manicured. Do not wear too much makeup; it misrepresents you as a professional. An untidy appearance will turn you off from customers as they sense you are not serious about your work.
Keep a Positive Personality
Be a pleasant cocktail waiter that people want to be around. Draw them to yourself with a smile and a warm demeanor even when you are not feeling too happy.
