Hellenic police helicopter

Candidates seeking a career with the Hellenic Police must meet a number of requirements in order to qualify for a position within the selected police department. For example, the requirements to satisfy if you wish to join as a civilian employee will vary considerably compared to the pre-requisites for individuals who wish to join as a Special Police Guard. Applicants should be aware of the necessary standards that must be met prior to initiating the application process.

Where to look for Hellenic police career opportunities

Individuals interested in becoming a police constable or officer can apply through the regular university entrance system. The entrance system is managed by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

Individuals can also look out for recruitment notices for the police in the daily press. These public notices will typically inform applicants of the number of placements available, the requirements to meet, and documentation needed for submission. Oftentimes, the recruitment public notices will give candidates an idea of the recruitment process they will have to pass, such as preliminary exams, medical checks and physical capability tests.

Applying to the Hellenic police

The application procedure is relatively straightforward:

  1. Candidates submit the application form and additional required documents to their nearest police station

  2. Applicants will then be required to undergo a medical and psychological test

  3. Individuals must then pass a fitness exam to demonstrate their physical capabilities

  4. Upon completion of these requirements and provided the candidate passes all tests, a decision will be made on whether the individual is duly fit for service

  5. Those who will be hired are listed on a special table which is issued by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs
