Liechtenstein Police Force

 The Liechtenstein National Police Force is responsible for law enforcement in Liechtenstein. With a work force of around 118 employees (85 police officers and 33 civilian staff), the National Police Force is relatively small in comparison to other forces in Europe.

The Liechtenstein National Police Force is split into five main divisions, namely:

  • Security and Traffic Control Division

  • Criminal Investigation Division

  • Executive Support Division

  • Chief of Staff

  • Security Corps

The primary functions of the National Police include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the maintenance of law and public order

  • Striving for public safety

  • Ensuring the rights and freedoms of the public are protected

  • Investigating criminal activity

  • Preventing and deterring crimes

  • Controlling road traffic

  • Ensuring respective laws and provisions are complied with

  • Cooperating with assisting authorities

  • Conducting searches for missing persons

  • Carrying out investigations of official corruption

The Liechtenstein National Police Force has agreements with 7 strategic treaties, including:

  • Working Group Southwest

  • Europol

  • IPA (International Police Association)

  • Interpol

  • Police Union Boss Constance

  • OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe)

  • Easter Swiss Police Concordat
