How to Manage Time as Business Owner

Did you think that being a business owner requires no work? Think again. Being a business owner can be very challenging and demanding. As a business owner, you are in charge of everyone and everything constantly requires your attention. On top of that you have to make important decisions about the company’s future, attend meetings and monitor the overall performance of each department within the company.

Truth is, as an entrepreneur you can’t afford to waste time on unnecessary tasks, especially when other home demands are also getting in your way. So if you are interested in using your time effectively, here are some life-changing tips that are designed to help you manage your time as a business owner:

#1 Prepare your daily To-do list

Writing down your plans for the day will help you stay on top of your game. Obviously, this doesn’t change the fact you will be faced with distractions throughout the day, although it will definitely help you stay focused on completing your goals. The best way to do this is to prepare the list of tasks you need to complete the night before so that the next day you are fully prepared. This way you do not have to waste valuable time deciding which one should be your no.1 priority.  

#2 Make use of technology

Mobile technology allows you to take your work outside of the office as mobile apps can offer a more flexible work schedule. This means that you can get your work done using mobile apps to store your important files such us DropboxSugarsyncGoogle Docs and Pocket.  Also, there are some apps that can help you prioritise your work and manage time more effectively using Evernote, and RescueTime!

#3 Delegate work to others

It makes things so much easier when you have a team you can trust and is capable of helping you meet goals. When you delegate work to others, your workload becomes more manageable since you are able to control other work demands which are perhaps more important as far as the future of the company is concerned. Therefore, it is important to communicate with your employees as much as possible to ensure you are on the same page, and that you are helping each other every step of the way.

#4 Turn your car into an office

If the problem persists and you just can’t find the time to complete your tasks, turning your car into an office is actually really effective. When you are driving between appointments, you can get some work done during that allocated time you are driving or waiting for the next meeting to begin. Perhaps you could use the time to make necessary phone calls to clients and arrange other appointments during the week or buy a portable printer and scanner to take your work with you wherever you go!
