Police Training in Egypt

Individuals who wish to join the police force in Egypt are required to go through training at the police academy. However, entry to the academy is dependent on each individual’s ability to meet the necessary admissions criteria.

Entry conditions for cadets as provided by Law No. (91) of 1975 are:

  • Must hold Egyptian citizenship

  • Must be a high school graduates

  • Candidate must have a character of good standing

  • Cannot have any previous criminal convictions

  • Must be of single status (cannot marry while studying at the college)

  • Applicants should be no older than 22 years of age

  • Must meet the required weight and height measurements

  • Applicants must pass the entry exam

  • Must successfully pass all physical and medical examinations and tests

  • Candidates will be tested on psychological and behavioral subjects

Entry conditions for officers who wish to train at the police academy:

  • Must be a commission police officer

  • Must hold a minimum of 65% in exams on Police and Law from police college

  • Must serve at least 3 years of service

  • Previous 2 reports must have been given an ‘excellent’ grade

  • Officer has to gain permission from the department he currently works in

Admission to the “special section” of the police academy is largely the same as the entry conditions for cadets, however, additional requirements include:

  • Graduates (male or female) must apply within one year from their university graduation

  • Applicants must be no older than 28 years of age

  • Candidates (male) should not be less than 165cm

  • Candidates (female) should not be less than 160cm

  • Weight requirements also apply

  • Physical tests must be passes with a minimum of 40%
