Recruitment Procedure for the Israeli Police

The Israeli law enforcement authority and civil policing authority is called the Israel Police. This governmental agency is under the Minister of Public Service. The primary duties of this agency include the regular duties of police, these include the following:

  • Fighting crime

  • Ensuring public safety

  • Counter terrorism

  • Controlling traffic

  • Maintaining law and order

The following is a basic guide on the recruitment and screening procedure adopted by the Israeli Police:

 

All resumes are received at the Bureau office and are screened according to the positions open for recruitment. Other considerations are made based on:

  • Candidate’s background

  • Location where they reside

  • Qualifications

  • Police record

  • Traffic

  • Previous recruitment

Once the candidate has been cleared from the screening process, they are invited for a personal interview, followed by a medical examination and compliance test.

All candidates must present the following documents:

  • Release certificate from the army

  • Education certificate issued from the Ministry of Education

  • Health statement

 

Candidates who successfully pass step 1 are required to attend the Police assessment centre. This is where they are evaluated, using simulations, role playing and various tasks. All candidates must pass the physical test to qualify as police recruits.

 

Successful candidates are contacted and offered a position in the Israeli Police. They must attend training in their district and complete the necessary qualifications to work as an official police officer in the country.
