The 25 Best Jobs in the UK 2015

CareerAddict

The job of marketing manager has been identified as the best job in the UK in 2015, according to jobs website Glassdoor. So, which other jobs made the list? Have a look at the table below to find out.

Methodology

Glassdoor used three factors to compile its results and award its Glassdoor job score rating: the average yearly base salary, the count of job openings, and career opportunities. The rating is out of a maximum score of five, with five representing the best score, and all the three factors are weighted equally. All the jobs featured in the list score highly across all three categories. Only job titles with at least 24 salary reports are admitted into the survey, and 25 career opportunities ratings as shared by UK workers over the last year. The number of job openings for each job title reflects the total count of "active jobs" including jobs posted to Glassdoor in the three months to the 25 of January, 2015. The report accommodates similar jobs in order to “normalise” titles.

The 25 best jobs

The job of marketing manager tops the list in this year’s survey followed by finance mangers in second place. But, which profession is in the bottom postion? Which jobs offer the highest average base salary? The best career opportunities? The highest number of job openings?

Do you suddenly, as I do, want to become a marketing manager? The table shows that not only are marketing managers the hottest jobs right now (as rated by Glassdoor), but they also have the second highest career opportunities rating, after human resources managers. Marketing managers are employed in almost all industry sectors and typically have varied tasks within their roles from writing copy to helping to formulate strategy to making customer-focused decisions. It’s also noteworthy that marketing managers do not earn the highest annual salary yet top the list; by contrast, traders earn the highest salary on this list, yet are bottom of the table.

Whether you are after a brand new job, or simply want to find out how your current employment situation fares in comparison with your peers, lists such these provide useful insights that you can use to your advantage. They are also a reminder that good work is not just about the salary, but also about the opportunities provided to help you develop your skills further, an aspect often not taken into consideration by job seekers.

Are you surprised by any of the entries on this list?
