The Korean National Police Agency

The KNPA – Korean National Police Agency is vast and consists of approximately 760 police offices, 244 police stations, and multiple educational institutions including:

 

  • Korea National Police University

  • Police Training Institute

  • National Central Police Academy

  • Police Investigation Training Center

Police training

 

Individuals interested in a career with the Korean National Police Agency must pass the relevant examinations and training at the appropriate educational institution. The study programs for applicants is comprehensive and includes the following core subjects:

 

  • Police law: this includes commercial law, civil proceedings act, international law, labor law, IP law, inheritance law and civil criminal judiciary law.

  • Criminal investigation: which comprises of criminal sociology, scientific investigation, narcotic investigation and investigation of external affairs.

  • Police administration: includes police management, analysis, statistics and government regulation.

  • Public order: includes subjects areas such as crime prevention, traffic management, social collective behavior and terrorism.     

Career paths

 

Once police training and education has been successfully completed, and a position with the KNPA has been obtained, new recruits can begin progressing within their chosen police career paths.

Inspector career progression:
