The South Africa Public Service Application Form

Individuals who are interested in applying for a job in the Public Service sector of South Africa will need to download and complete the official application form (Z83). The application form is approximately two pages in length and includes seven different sections, and a box for a signed declaration.

The form is divided into the following informational sections:

  1. The Advertised Post – in this section, applicants must state the post they are applying for and the reference number of the vacancy.

  2. Personal Information – this section must be completed in full, however if the candidate has a CV which includes all the information required in section B then they can simply ignore this section and attach their CV. The primary elements of this section are: name and surname, date of birth, ID number, race, gender, citizenship, disability, nationality, work permit authorizations, criminal convictions, profession and requirements for registration.

  3. Contact – candidates must provide information with respect to their preferred language for correspondence, their preferred method of contact and telephone number during working hours.

  4. Language Proficiency – here, applicants will provide detailed information on the languages they know by stating the language and their level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.

  5. Qualifications – like section B, this section can be ignored if all the required details are included in your attached CV. Otherwise; you will need to complete this section by detailing your school and university education.

  6. Work Experience – this section can be ignored if your attached CV details all your work experiences. If you prefer to complete this section however, you will need to provide information on your current and previous employers, the position you held, dates of employment and your reason for leaving employment.

  7. References – applicants must provide information on their referees. Please note that up to three persons can be named referees. You will need to provide the name of the referee, their relationship to you and their contact telephone number. However, if you already have this information in your attached CV then you can simply ignore this section.

The final section of the Public Service job application form is the signed declaration, which much be signed by the applicant, and dated. The purpose of the declaration is to confirm that you have provided the complete and correct information to the best of your knowledge.
