Everyone talks about peace and goodwill at Christmas. They also talk about how good it is to give to others and how it’s about love, family, and all that stuff. But let’s take a moment to reflect on the highlight of the holidays…presents!
That’s right, you’re in business and your friends are in business. It means it’s time to get yourself (or them) something useful. In this article, we’re going to go through the top five gadgets you should get for Christmas in 2014.
#1 Fujifilm X-M1
This camera weighs less than twelve ounces and is small enough to fit in your pocket. It’s easy to use because you can stay on the automatic mode without the need for change. It also has a range of settings that can allow the experienced photographer to get the precise effect they’re looking for. The use of sensors means you’ll always get the perfect adjustment for your picture.
It also produces video in high-definition, up to a maximum quality level of 1080p. Just make sure that you’re prepared to deal with a slightly slower focus feature than expected.
#2 Microsoft Surface Pro 3
Microsoft has produced a gadget designed to satisfy laptop and tablet users. The Surface Pro 3 is thinner than other versions and its thickness has gone down to a mere 9.1mm. The Surface Pro 3 comes with a bigger screen and a kickstand that can be adjusted between 22 degrees and 150 degrees.
In short, this is one of the lightest and slimmest tablets on the market. You can expect a sharp display and the latest in design excellence, especially when it comes to its keyboard cover. The only real disadvantage is the occasionally unresponsive touchpad.
#3 Apple iPad Mini 3
The Apple iPad Mini 3 is similar to the iPad Mini 2 in many ways. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth buying, however. What’s changed is the range of new features. It comes with new touch identification. This fingerprint scanner is at the cutting edge of security and will make sure that nobody but you can access it.
Apple have crafted its latest tablet with an aluminium body and a shiny diamond cut edge. This makes it easy to hold and light to carry around. Furthermore, Apple have seemingly found a solution to its much maligned low-capacity batteries.
#4 Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina Display
The product name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. What we can say is that the Apple Macbook Pro has the highest resolution for any laptop available for purchase today. The retina display is far superior to a standard display and the step-up in quality with its Haswell processors is something you’ll notice straight away. The power saving features of the OS X 10.9 also means you can make your laptop last longer than ever before.
#5 Moto 360: Android Smart Watch
We realise that wearable technology isn’t for everyone. The reception of Google Glass has told us that. If you do know someone who appreciates wearable technology, consider the Android smart watch. The Moto 360 is perhaps the most fashionable watch yet because it avoids making you look like a techie geek. It’s elegantly designed with stainless steel and all the features you could want from a watch like this, including a bright display, heart rate monitors, and an innovative UI.
However, we must say that its ability to hold a charge is disappointing. You can’t wear the Moto 360 for days on end without having it shutdown at random. It does need regular charging for it to work over those long days.
