1. Take a full change of clothes to work
Be sure you’re not sweating for 40 minutes, and then leave with the same T- shirt or undergarments. It’s guaranteed that you will feel gross, and there’s a chance you might smell gross, too. Pack a gym bag the night before, and include a full change of clothes. Side note – don’t forget your headphones and socks. Those are sometimes forgettable but imperative to a productive workout.
2. Bring hygienic items
You most likely won’t have time to take a full shower on your break, so come prepared. Baby wipes can do wonders to get wiped down after an intense cardio session. Stick some in a freezer bag for convenient storage that won’t suck out moisture. And a tip for the ladies: dry shampoo is perfect for a hair pick-me-up in the afternoon. After you get ready, don’t forget a spritz of perfume or cologne to bring a fresh scent back to the office.
3. Plan ahead and pack a healthy post-workout snack
Don’t let your healthy lifestyle go to waste. When you have to run through a drive-thru restaurant for your post-workout hunger, you’re ending where you began. Be sure to plan ahead with a nutritious lunch or some protein-packed snacks. A protein shake is a perfect pick-me-up, or bring some apples with almond butter to fuel the rest of your day.
4. Utilize your time at the gym and take a real break
It’s the perfect time to get the stress of work out of your system, and come back to the office feeling refreshed and energized. Be sure you’re not sitting on a bench replying to emails. You have a lunch break for a reason. One of the best things you can do for your health is to take a real break from daytime anxiety and have time for yourself.
