Working for the Singapore Police Force

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is the governmental agency that ensures law enforcement and prevents crime within the country. There are an estimated 39,000 employees working for the SPF, with 16 operational departments and 12 line units. The headquarters of the SPF are located in New Phoenix Park in the central town of Novena, Singapore. The Singaporean Police Force acts on four principle values: courage, loyalty, integrity and fairness.

 

The PES requirement for male applicants is A or B, while female candidates are exempt from this. The educational requirements are the same for both sexes, a minimum of 5 GCE O’ Level credits or NITEC. Lastly, all applicants must be Singaporean nationals or permanent residents in the country.

 

The expected salary for candidates who have a full GCE A’ Level, IB Diploma or NUS high school diploma ranges between $1925 to $2154, whilst those with a polytechnic diploma can earn approximately $2150 at Sergeant level. At Corporal level, the salary ranges between $1640 and $1982, depending on the level of education of the candidate.

 

The ranking structure of the Singapore Police Force has the following stages:

  • Corporal

  • Sergeant

  • Staff Sergeant

  • Senior Staff Sergeant

  • Station Inspector

  • Senior Station Inspector

  • Senior Station Inspector (2)

 

There are a number of benefits offered to individuals who work for the SPF. Some of the benefits offered are outlined below:

  • Study award for children

  • Class 3 driving lessons

  • Corporals can take 14 days annual leave, whilst sergeants are entitled to 18 days leave. The casual leave is of 14 days

  • Retention and retirement plan
