You'll Never Guess What These Celebrities Do For Fun

Everyone has a hobby. Whether it is reading books, listening to music, swimming or playing football, it is an activity that you find enjoyable and as such you usually choose to carry it out on a regular basis.

But, while the aforementioned hobbies would have fit perfectly into an article about common folk like you and me, some famous celebrities have chosen to spend their free time on hobbies that don’t really align with their public image. These famous people – musicians to be exact – have some less common, unexpected and unusual hobbies that you might be interested to hear about.

Let’s take a look at some of the hobbies these well-known musicians have:

1. Roger Daltrey – Fishing

Did you know that the lead singer of The Who(one of the most influential rock bands in history), Roger Daltrey, enjoys fishing? Daltrey’s preferred way to pass the time these days is by fishing for trout. In fact, he likes it so much that he owns his own fishery ‘Lakedown Trout Fishery’ in England. Daltrey admitted that when he is fishing he feels as if he has ‘smoked half a dozen joints’, which one can only assume means that he finds fishing extremely relaxing. But, as a rock star, you might have expected him to partake in the smoking of said joints! But each to their own I suppose.

2. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Playing Chess

Red Hot Chili Peppers’s bassist Flea enjoys playing chess more than anything else – well presumably apart from playing music. For example, when the band was performing during the Brazilian Rock in Rio, he challenged the world chess champion Magnus Carlsen – to whom he lost, of course, but was able to last longer than anybody else and showed everyone his incredible chess skills. Does it make you like Flea more or less now that you know he is a chess master?

3. Alice Cooper – Playing Golf

Heavy metal god Alice Cooper, who suffered from drug addiction for many years found the solution to his problem by taking up golf. It may seem like a strange hobby for someone with Alice Cooper’s reputation to have, but it has helped him maintain a healthy lifestyle. As it turns out, he is quite good at it as well.

4. Steve Vai – Beekeeping

Now this is what I call an unusual hobby. The amazing guitarist Steve Vai has a hobby that it is somewhat less common than the others on this list - Beekeeping. Yes, you read that right - not bookkeeping but beekeeping. When Vai is not playing his guitar, he is his raising bees, an activity he refers to as a relaxing ‘Zen-like experience.’

5. Kylie Minogue

A friend of Kylie Minogue divulged that the singer is an avid Scrabble player. In fact, she is a ‘professional Scrabblist’ and every time she plays with her family and friends she much wins nearly every time. Thanks to her incredible knowledge and vast word dictionary, Kylie can beat you at Scrabble anytime. So, unless you are a master player at Scrabble don’t ever challenge to a game.
