Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, famously known as Lady Gaga, was born on March 28th, 1986 in New York. This style icon is arguably the perfect role model for daring fashionistas all over the world. You probably also know her for her audacious acts such as wearing a meat dress to the VMA’s, her cameo appearance in an episode of The Hills in 2008, and her fondness for the left side of her body. Well, here are ten other things you did not know about Lady Gaga.

1. She Taught Herself to Play the Piano

Amazingly, Lady Gaga taught herself to play the piano at the age of four. By the time she was thirteen, she had even written her first song. At fourteen years of age, she had performed several times on open mic nights.

2. Gaga Intimidated the US President

President Barrack Obama admitted to feeling intimidated by Gaga in her sixteen inch heels. Obama described the situation as “a little intimidating”. Gaga met the leader on October 1, 2011 in a Human Rights Campaign gala where she made a speech advocating for LGBT.

3. Nude Art Model

She was once painted naked for the cover of Vanity Fair in 2011. The image was then auctioned off for charity. This was definitely a Jack and Rose moment, even though the relationship between Gaga and Tony Bennet, who was the sketcher, is a platonic friendship.

Lady Gaga was among the top buyers of Michael Jackson memorabilia in 2012. She intended to put them up in a museum for charity. Gaga was sad to see MJ’s stage clothes disposed of. She consequently spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to care for these items and stage clothes.

Gaga is an animal lover who would rather walk in her birthday suit than wear animal fur. Gaga also has Fozzi, her lovely pooch with whom she travels all over the world. Even though she wore meat, Lady Gaga explained that her love for animals is not hypocritical, and she appreciates and acknowledges animals.

6. She Has a Tattoo of Her Favorite Quote on Her Left Inner Arm

The tattoo is a translation of a quote from a romantic philosopher and poet, Rainer Maria Rilke. It reads “Confess to yourself in the deepest hour of the night whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Dig deep into your heart, where the answer spreads its roots in your being, and ask yourself solemnly, Must I write?”

7. Was Discouraged on Her Path to Fame

Just like many other music icons, she faced discouragement in her pre-fame years when her drama teacher branded here as too ethnic for success in the music industry. Her hair was dark and the teachers then thought that she was not star material since she was not blonde.

8. Danced as a Stripper When She Was 18

When she was 18 Lady Gaga worked as a stripper. She also mentioned to the media that she had a soft spot for British men. Lady Gaga’s past involved secrets including lesbianism and drug usage.

Lady Gaga told the media that her alcoholic drink of choice was Jameson Irish Whiskey. And even though she no longer uses cocaine, Lady Gaga finds inspiration in marijuana. She admits that she needs to smoke pot before she can write songs.
