Fear prevents you from going after your biggest goals in life. The possibility of failing makes you feel small, weak and helpless, and sabotages your own efforts to succeed. This phobia that is called atychiphobia has a devastating effect on your lifestyle choices. The reason for this is that it doesn’t allow you to enjoy life as a whole which involves enjoying the good and the bad of any given situation.
However, this doesn’t have to be the case. If you choose to be happy and retain a positive outlook on life, you’ll see that fearing failure is just a state of mind. It is a self-limiting thought that you have created to avoid possible disappointments that can traumatise your ego.
Admitting that you are afraid is not a weakness; it’s just a step towards self-development. Here are some of the things that the happiest people in this world have managed to accept in the search for fulfilment:
#1 The only thing you can control is how you react to situations
Whether you like it or not, there aren’t many things you can control, except your own thoughts and actions. At some point life inevitably gets hard and you have to face it though it’s your own behaviour that will determine whether you are going to be successful or not. The sooner you learn this lesson, the quicker you’ll find yourself where you want to be.
#2 Your dreams aren’t big enough if they don’t scare you
There’s an undeniable beauty in making big dreams. On the one hand, it’s the possibility of picturing yourself on the top of that high mountain, and, on the other hand, the constant fear that within a second you just might fall down. Either way, it’s necessary that you set high expectations for yourself. The higher you go the bigger the bruise you get on your way down. As scary as it sounds though you just have to find the strength to move on without thinking about what can go wrong.
#3 You have to be different to make a difference
You know what they say. In order to succeed you need to ‘take the road less traveled’. If you really want to make a difference in this world and be remembered for something great, you have to make yourself stand out from the crowd. So go on out there and show people that you are different by going against the grain.
#4 You are the one who’s limiting your potential
The only person that’s standing in your way is you. Before you are able to make a difference you first need to convince yourself. If you are not 100 percent sure about what you are doing, chances are that you are not going to get it. However, believe that you can and you will.
#5 If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never have enough
Just as every human being, you tend to focus on the stuff that you don’t have. Even though you own more than many other people possess, you take everything for granted and can’t see anything beyond that. So instead of feeling miserable about not being able to enjoy the things you want, try to remember that only the humblest people in this world are the most content with their lives.
#6 Once you’ve come to know pain, you find yourself
You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain. Whether it happens once or a million times, you are going to get yourself hurt and crawl to the ground. Only when you hit rock bottom are you able to get yourself up and start fresh again. That’s when you realise opportunities are endless, and you can do anything you put your mind to.
#7 Above all you have to take care of yourself
This is not self-centric, it’s called self-love. How many times have you heard that taking care of yourself should be your top priority in life? Ensuring that you are healthy both physically and mentally is vital to success since it gives you the time to focus on the things that matter to you. So before correcting or making someone else happy, you should make sure you do this.
#8 People will love you or hate you
The truth is that everybody talks. No matter what they say though, people will choose to love you or hate you, and that’s above your power. The truth is that there’s no point in trying to impress anyone by pretending to be someone else. Be who you are and choose the people who surround you carefully.
#9 To succeed you have to free yourself from regrets
Happy people aren’t afraid to take a look at what the future holds for them and really give it a go. Their secret is to never looking back on past mistakes and regrets. They have accepted the fact that they are not perfect and make mistakes, but these didn’t stop them from trying harder. So, let go of past failures and take on new challenges along the way.
#10 The hardest decision you’ll have to make is to walk away or keep moving
Without a doubt, life is full of difficult decisions. But the hardest moment of all is when you are called to decide whether walking away or keep moving is worth your time. For example, you may find that you are not where you meant to be in life, and so adjusting your life choices or making new goals is needed to get you back on track.
Being happy all the time doesn’t always come naturally. However, you need to learn how to stay positive even when things get messy. When life gets tough remember that you are tougher!
