Sometimes changing job isn't enough you need to change career to be happy . Is it time to try something different ? Keep an eye out for these 3 signs.
When you no longer enjoy your job, it can be difficult to understand if what you need is a new job or an entirely new career. You don’t want to go to the office, and you get sick at the thought that you need to work another day. But what does this mean? Do you hate the job you are in now? Is there anything you want to change to help you find meaning again? Or do you think it’s time to start over in a new field?
All of these questions are worth asking yourself when faced with this challenge. While most of the time, it makes sense you don’t feel as energised or excited to go to work, but when this becomes an ongoing thing, perhaps you need to investigate it further.

Here are 3 signs that tell you it’s time to change careers, not just jobs.
1. You Hate ‘The Job’
Changing a job wouldn’t make any difference to you because it would mean you will be doing the same thing you are doing in the job you are now. For example, if you are an accountant and were to get another job you would still be an accountant there. So the real problem is one that you have to figure out on your own.
Think about what is it that makes you want to quit your job; what you least enjoy in it and what you would like to improve in this situation. Then consider if it is the nature of the job that makes your stomach turn whenever you hear ‘work’ or the work culture, your team members, your boss or the salary and benefits it offers.
2. You Don’t Want to Take New Responsibility
You know it’s time to change careers when you don’t want to take any new responsibilities in your current job. In fact, this shows that you are so sick of this job that you are aren’t willing to try harder and do the best you can in the position. This is when you feel that you have come to a point where you have settled in your career; you found a job that provides you with a steady paycheck and pays the rent, and you don’t want to start over. But, this is the biggest sign that tells you to turn your career around. If this job no longer excites you, perhaps another job in a different industry will.
3. You Don’t Have a Plan in Place
Every ambitious professional carefully plans his/her next move and practices effective career management. But, when there is no career plan in place, it’s easy to feel lost and helpless in your career. If you ever felt this way, it might mean that you have reached the point you wanted to go in your career, and now it’s time for you to try something different.
Also, if you believe that people have diverse talents and skills, then you will find it relatively easy to change between careers – not just jobs. This is something job hoppers are particularly good at. They don’t just change jobs; they change industries. And if they can do it, so can you.
