Thoughts are very powerful. Positive thoughts will enhance your chances of success in any endeavor. However, negative thoughts will only place a road block between you and your desired goals. Here are some of the thoughts than can hinder your chances of success in life:
1. I don’t deserve what I want
You might have big dreams and plans for your life but deep inside you might still feel that you don’t deserve what you want. This could be because you were told by your teachers or parents that you would never amount to much. Or you were teased a lot by peers in your earlier years. As a result, you developed a low self-esteem which causes you to sabotage your success in different areas. For instance, you might find yourself ignoring the opportunity for a promotion or letting go of a promising romantic relationship. Therefore, to enjoy success in life, it is very important to overcome your self-esteem issues.
2. It is too difficult
One of the main reasons for failure in life is the thought that something is too difficult. For instance, someone trying to lose weight might conclude that it is too difficult and give up along the way. However, the fact is that the road to success is not always easy. There might be some obstacles which will make your life uncomfortable. However, don’t focus on the difficulties but on the end result. This will keep you going until you attain your goal.
3. I don’t have enough money
Many people give up on their dreams because of the thought that they don’t have enough money. For example, someone might have the idea of starting school or buying a home. However, they might end up abandoning their dream due to lack of funds. When you tell yourself ‘I can’t afford it’, you might end up ignoring other solutions and options which could come in handy. Therefore, instead of focusing on what you don’t have, think of other ways you can use to raise funds. Besides borrowing from banks and other financial institutions, you could consider saving some money from your earnings. Though this might take time, you will eventually achieve your dreams.
4. I’m not (fill the blank) enough
If you think you are not good enough, you are not likely to succeed in life. For instance, you might think that you are not pretty enough, smart enough, educated enough, tall enough or connected enough. Such thoughts usually come about when we compare ourselves with other people around us. Thinking you are not good enough will place a limit on yourself and keep you from trying new things.
5. I don’t have enough time
Many people complain about not having enough time to get things done. However, in most cases, the real problem is that they have not learnt to manage their time well. Whether rich or poor, everyone has 24 hours in a day. How we spend that time is what makes the difference. If you want to achieve more in life, you need to prioritize your activities and allocate time accordingly. This could mean spending less time watching television, sleeping or hanging out with friends.
How you think will have a direct impact on your success in life. Therefore, learn how choose your thoughts wisely.
