You want to become somebody. You know you are destined to do great things in your life and you are ready to become known to the rest of the world. No matter how easy this sounds though, only few people actually make it. Why? Because “nobodies” don’t really think they have the power to do it.
First, in order to help you become somebody you have to think about what that really means to you. Does this mean becoming famous, becoming the top of the top in your field or leaving your mark in another way?
While you are at it, go through the following steps to help you determine how you can become somebody:
1. Be different
If you want to get noticed, you have to do something that can potentially help you stand out from the crowd. Without making a fool of yourself, you have to find that unique “thing” that distinguishes you from other people. A unique memorable nickname that adds value to what you do, a unique way of talking or even a unique look that catches the attention can say a lot about your persona and can easily get you noticed.
2. Take risks
You can’t evolve if you don’t take risks and you can’t take risks if you are not willing to change. Allow yourself to try different things and further evaluate your options. Be prepared to take risks and challenge yourself as this will allow you to think more creatively and be more interesting.
3. Make contacts
Get to talk to and connect with people. The more connected you are, the more chances you have to become somebody as people like to talk. Don’t underestimate the power of the word of mouth as it is in people’s nature to offer their help to others. If a small group of people believe you are good at what you do, they’re definitely going to promote you to their friends and so on.
4. Become an expert
Once you reach the point where you regard yourself as a true professional, that’s when you will start getting noticed. You want people to come to you for advice as they think you are the best of the best, so make sure that you know your lines by heart. Be the best in your field and share your knowledge to the public.
5. Build a strong online presence
Lastly and most importantly, invest in your personal brand building a strong online presence. If you are not a blogger already, you should learn how to become one and get people to become your followers. Let them know what you are currently working on with regular updates and posts on social media, and if they like your work, you will become famous in no time.
The secret to becoming somebody is believing that you can. Attitude is everything and if you can visualise your goal, you can achieve it. Good luck!
