Bridesmaid for Hire

Jen Glantz couldn’t believe that the ad she posted on Craigslist, offering professional bridesmaid services, would take the internet by storm. In just two weeks, she got contacted by hundreds of women, many of which had no close friends, to be their bridesmaids. Essentially, it’s just a typical case of a person who saw a gap in the market and turned it into a lucrative venture.

Glantz founded Bridesmaid for Hire, a startup that offers “undercover  bridesmaid” services such as being a personal assistant, on-call therapist, social director and when necessary a peacemaker. Glantz serves as the go-to person for every bride-to-be. Dealing with every little task such as helping the bride choose a wedding dress, coordinating the bridal shower or bachelorette party, organising RSVPs, and helping with the gift registry etc.

To keep up with the demand, Glantz is currently hiring five extra “bridesmaids”, and she has already received more than 1,000 applications. Interestingly, she has received 750 job offers from brides who are getting married in the next two years.

Glantz is determined to make this unusual career a success. Watch this video to find out more about the world’s first professional bridesmaid for hire business, how it started and how it developed into a highly profitable venture.
