How to Get Free Resume Sample Downloads to Use

When preparing a resume, it’s important that the CV is laid out in a clear, easily legible manner. After all, you want to make it easy for the hiring manager to read the resume, so your information should be formatted properly.

Making your own resume layout can take time--and possibly skill--that you just don’t have. Instead of doing the layout yourself, it’s so much easier to download a template. Thankfully, there are HUNDREDS of templates you can download and use for your resume.

How to Download Resume Samples via Microsoft Office

Microsoft Word is one of the most versatile word processing programs on the market right now, so it should come as no surprise to find that it can provide you with dozens of sample resume formats easily. To find these sample resume layouts:

Step 1: Click on the "File" tab on the upper left-hand corner of the Microsoft Word window. (The hotkey to access the "File" tab is Alt, followed by F.)

Step 2: Find the "New" tab in the File menu, and click on it. You will be given a number of options of files to open, and you can find a couple of sample resumes at the very top of the window, in a place titled "Available Templates". Simply click on "Sample Templates", and look for any templates titled "resume".

Step 3: If you can’t find a resume template you like, go back to the "New Document" tab and scroll down to find the "New Resume Samples" and "Resumes and CVs" options. Click on either one, and search through the templates to find one you like.

Step 4: Once you’ve found the template you want to use, click on it. Your computer will automatically download the template from, and you can simply go about filling it in with all of your information.
