Most of us spend a lot of time thinking about, talking about and dealing with money. There is no doubt that money is important. It allows you to have clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and food in your belly, among many other things. However, no matter how much money you have, there are some things it cannot buy. Here are a few:
‘Money can’t buy love’ is a common cliché which is very true. Money can only buy you lust or temporary attraction. However, real love comes from growing together, sharing experiences, caring for one another, and mutual respect. Such love thrives whether you have little or much money. However, people who marry solely on the basis of money usually end up very frustrated and unhappy.
It is true that having the latest gadgets, shoes, clothes, and cars can help you fit in. However, this should not be mistaken for true acceptance. The key to being accepted is to focus on adding value to the people around you. Being a kind and helpful individual will win you more genuine friends than the things money can buy.
Money can buy medicine and healthcare. However, once your body begins failing you, money can’t completely restore lost health. This is why it is more advisable to take preventative measures such as not smoking, exercising, and eating healthy. In addition, money cannot restore your youth. Procedures such as plastic surgery will only give you an illusion of youth.
Money can help you develop your inborn talents. For instance, you can use it to pay for dancing lessons or singing classes. However, no matter how much money you have, it can never buy you a talent.
Your behavior is not determined by the amount of money you possess. There are plenty of rich people who lack manners and proper respect for others, and many poor people exhibit good behavior. The reverse is also true. Good manners cannot be bought; they can only be taught and nurtured.
Time is another valuable thing that money cannot buy. Once it is gone, you cannot get it back. If you don’t take advantage of the opportunities available today, you might never get another chance in the future. This is why remaining stuck in the past is a huge waste of time. Instead, you should make a decision to make the most of today.
Wisdom is derived from life’s experiences. Through trial and error, you get to understand what works and what doesn’t. Money can buy you materials to learn about the experiences of others, but it can never buy you wisdom. You have to get it from experience.
Trust is one of the most essential qualities for any relationship. It is not easy to get someone to trust you. It is even harder to regain trust when it is lost. You cannot use money to earn trust or buy it back when it is broken.
9. Life purpose
Everyone has a purpose in life. Your life purpose is why you were born and it is something that comes from within. Knowing and pursuing your purpose adds excitement and fulfillment to life. You can never use money to buy purpose.
You cannot use money to buy life. It can help you stay healthy but it can’t buy the essence of life. Life is a gift. Once your life is gone, you can never buy it back.
