Smoothies have taken the breakfast world by storm and for good reason. Vegans love them because smoothies are an easy, fast way to get a whole variety of nutrients in one package. Everyone else loves them because they’re filling and delicious. Whether you’re someone who wakes up early to make a big breakfast or you grab something on the way to the office, you know that being hungry in the morning isn’t fun as it sets you up for disaster later, making you visit the vending machine when your stomach starts growling before noon. 1. Start with a Creamy Base

The easiest way to add some good fat to your breakfast smoothie is with a tablespoon or two of peanut or almond butter. These will help you feel full, too. For an iron boost, try almond butter. 4. Think on the Sweet Side
As soon as we tell ourselves we’re eating something healthy, it’s inevitable to avoid craving cakes and cookies. Add one sweet ingredient to your smoothie (but just a little) so you don’t feel that you’re missing out on the pancakes or waffles you’re craving. Try a teaspoon of raw cacao powder. It’s as sweet as your regular cocoa powder but much healthier for you – it even has antioxidants. You can also add some sweetened shredded coconut or a touch of honey or maple syrup.
5. Power Up with Protein
Finally, to create the perfect breakfast smoothie, you need some protein. Protein fills us up and we need to consume some with every meal as it’s considered a macronutrient. An easy protein fix in a smoothie is a scoop of protein powder. You can find tons of brands in health food stores or order them online. From pea protein to hemp to brown rice, there are lots of options, and protein powder is a good source of protein for all the vegan diets. You will also get some protein from nut butters if you use that as your healthy fat. Another good source is hemp hearts which are considered to be a complete protein, meaning that you get all of the amino acids your body needs from them without the need to combine them with another food source.
Follow these five steps and you will be well on your way to creating delicious, healthy and filling smoothies that make the perfect breakfast.
