2013 saw tons of flagship Smartphones released into the marketplace and with that came many choices - too many choices for those of us who are not technically knowledgable! It can be hard to decide what the best Smartphone is, especially as a college student. One mistake can cost you tons of money. So here are a list of Smartphones that will cater to different college lifestyles.
The Stylish and Uninformed Student
Do you consider yourself a stylish student with very little technical knowledge? The iPhone 5 was made for you. The iPhone 5 and its predecessors are designed with a compact build and an extremely colorful user interface. The iOS is extremely easy to use and the design and user interface is better than its previous versions. Unfortunately, the iOS 7 does not have any software changes from the iOS 6. I recommend that you give yourself some time to decide which version you should get.
If you’re a cool, stylish and rich college student that doesn’t care about technology, the iPhone 5 will satisfy your social and technological needs.
The Careless and Active Student
If you’re like me who tends to drop his phone a lot or is always in an active environment. The Sony Xperia Z1 is designed just for you. It is one of the sturdiest and toughest Flagship Smartphone from Sony released this 2013. If you’re unsure of its toughness, the phone is IP58 certified, making it waterproof, dustproof, and shatterproof. If you want to see just how tough it is, here is a drop test from android authority.
If the toughness wasn’t enough for you and that you’d prefer something with a much better battery life. The phone provides its users with a long lasting battery that gives you a ton of options to save battery life. If you’d like a long lasting, tough Smartphone for an active lifestyle, the Sony Xperia Z1 is something you should consider.
The Busy or "Artistic" Student
If you’re a student swamped with work or just want something to practice your artistic skills. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the greatest "phablet" for any student. It is one the most powerful phones that exists right now. The phone has a premium design, a great hardware and an extremely sensitive touch screen. It has notable applications such as the action memo and the S finder that will give you ways to create notes, texts, contacts and other data.
Just like its previous versions, the phone comes with a stylus. It will instantly provide you with applications once you remove the stylus. The stylus and its extremely sensitive touch screen are great tools for art students who want to find a place to make sketches, place images, and take pictures.
Do you need a portable assistant? Do you need something to fill your artistic needs? The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will provide just that.
The “Poor” Student
If you live on a budget and have to work hard just to make ends meet - out of all the mid-priced Smartphones - the MotorolaMoto G is a great steal. It’s sold at the price of $179 dollars and provides users with a large screen (much larger than the iPhone), the latest Android OS, and a great hardware for its price.
The only downside the phone has would be its lack of 4G and LTE features. The chargers and earphones are also sold separately. The phone wouldn’t be able to compare to Flagship phones, but it’s easily one of the best affordable phones for college students on a budget.
College Technology Geeks
If you’re interested in one of the most customizable and powerful phones at a great price, the LG Nexus 5 is known to be one of the top phones for tech freaks, android purists, and gamers. Despite having extremely high-end specifications, the phone is sold at a very affordable price. The only downside to it would be its extremely fragile build. But besides that, it’s a perfect phone and has my highest recommendation.
If you’re a gamer, an android purist or just really into technology. The LG Nexus 5 will provide your college lifestyle with the latest technological boost.
These Smartphones cater to different kinds of college students. Whether you have money to splash or you are on a budget, you will be able to find something that truly meets your needs.
