TUI Travel enhances the prospects of jobseekers in tourist industry

Many people around the world celebrate the United Nations’ World Tourism Day, which is on September 27 each year. Tourism today has seen continued growth and deeper diversification and has become one of the fastest developing economic industries in the world. It is definitely a sector which has not only social and cultural but also economic value. According to Eurostat, tourism accounts for more than 5% of the EU-27’s gross domestic product (GDP). The total employment within the whole of the EU-27’s tourism industry is estimated to be between 12 and 14 million people.

It is noteworthy to observe the extent to which certain travel firms boost the labor market not only on a national level but also on an international level. TUI Travel, one of the world's leading leisure travel companies, is one of these companies that demonstrates commitment in enhancing the career prospects of potential recruits in the tourist industry by investing in innovation.

Good news for job hunters in tourist industry

Interestingly, TUI Travel expects to hire more than 1,500 workers for over 100 different job roles across nine different countries. The company has already opened applications for summer 2014 for the most popular roles, such as overseas customer advisors and childcare.

New recruitment system

TUI Travel recently changed the way it recruits for the majority of its UK customer-related roles, making it easier for jobseekers to find, apply and join the Group. The change involves bringing eight of its brands under one roof, providing a vast range of jobs and opportunities across the organization to jobseekers. This means that the job portal will now handle all recruitment for customer-facing roles in Thomson, First Choice, JCA, Sunsail, Travelbound, Crystal Ski, Ski Bound Holidays and Flexiski.

Potential recruits will now be able to access information about the firm’s brands and their specific customer-facing positions through a ‘one stop shop’. On the contrary, before the new recruitment system was introduced, recruitment has been handled by each individual brand, through a decentralized system.

The benefits of the new system

The new recruitment site will mean that UK roles at numerous TUI Travel businesses are now centrally located enabling current and future employees to move around the brands or roles within headquarters and pursue a chance to develop an exciting lifelong career within the organization.

Due to the unprecedented demand, TUI Travel will be a launching a smart phone and tablet-friendly version of the website in October.
