How to Use Instagram For Marketing Without a Smartphone

Instagram is quickly becoming one of the largest social media platforms on the internet and businesses are increasingly seeing the importance of engaging with the platform. More than 25% of Fortune 500 companies now incorporating Instagram into their Marketing campaigns and the number is increasing. Instagram engagement is 15 times higher than Facebook and there is an average of 1.2 billion likes on Instagram each day.

Despite this, companies have been relatively slow to adopt Instagram; this could be because it is quite difficult for businesses to access in comparison to other social media platforms. There is no official way to upload pictures or movies to Instagram from a computer. It all has to be done from a Smartphone using the official Instagram app. So either the company has to buy a special smartphone that they use just for Instagram or an employee offers their phone up for the task. Neither of these options are ideal.

It is much better for businesses if they can upload pictures and movies from a computer in the office. For one it is much more cost effective. Two it also allows for the use of better cameras and much more sophisticated photo editing or video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere (links to legal full free versions included).

However, even though there is no official application for computers, there are some unofficial ways to circumvent the problem. The most popular of these is the Blustacks App Player, which is software that essentially creates a virtual Android phone on your desktop. The software is of course not glitch free and sometimes there are problems, but that happens with many programs and this is the best option available at the moment.

Once you have downloaded the App Player it is important to remember that you need to choose the right App Store to download Apps from. There are four options and if you are using a Mac you choose the first option (with a number 1 icon) and if you are using any other system choose the official Android App Store (with an android icon) which should be the last option. It is important to choose the correct App store so that you can be sure that you will not get any nasty malware or viruses. Once you have downloaded the Instagram App and a File Explorer App you are ready to go. You can sign up for a new company account, login to an existing account and just start uploading straight away as if you were using a smartphone. Enjoy!
