Do you remember when you were a little kid and people used to ask you “what do you want to be when you grow up?” and you were so excited to answer and tell them all about your dreams of becoming a firefighter? Oh, we were all so excited to grow up; little did we know, being an adult sucks.
Some of us used to get excited about professions related to fame, glam or glitter- those that we see on the TV, singers, actors or presenters. But, there were those few kids that they always dreamed of becoming a boss. Just a boss. They didn’t care what their business would be as long as they had their corner office and people called them Mighty Boss.
Being your own boss can be exciting and energizing. However, it isn’t for everyone. If you are comfortable with taking risks and self-motivated then starting up your own business may indeed help you make more money, manage your own time and enhance your creativity. Just be patient and determined and you can reap all the benefits of being your own boss as explained below:
1. Creative Freedom
If you are the founder of a company, you can make all the important decisions behind the goods and services offered to clients. In addition to that, if you see that your customers are no longer responding to your products, then you can always revise your decisions and so on; basically, you can do whatever you want!
2. Your Own Schedule
If you are a business owner, who is going to tell you when you have to clock in or clock out? No-one! You are free to create your own flexible schedule - even though many business owners tend to work longer hours, you have the privilege of arranging your vacations, or time off whenever you want to. No-one is going to stop you from doing that; remember you make all the decisions, however, keep in mind that you are also responsible for the entire company, too.
3. Personal Values
You no longer have to worry about finding a company that shares the same values with you, or whether a company will go against your beliefs. You now have the power to create a business that is in line with your personal values and introduce them into the company culture.
4. Money, Money, Money
Yes, this is a delicate matter. A business, especially a new one, is always prone to financial losses, however, if it is managed properly it could also earn unbelievable amounts of money. If you had a conventional job, you would know your fixed salary based on hours worked and various other factors. On the other hand, as a business owner you get to increase your profits month by month if you manage to run an efficient, productive and successful company. The important thing here is to make sure that you do your best to have a booming success or else you are screwed. No one is going to pay your salary if the company doesn’t have enough money.
