The Mickey Mouse Club may have been the gateway to childhood stardom and money, but YouTube has paved the way for a whole other kind of child celebrities.
Watch a short timeline of how they became wealthy below:
10. Stormi Webster
Net worth: $3 million (£2.2 million)
Daughter of the world’s youngest billionaire Kylie Jenner and hip-hop artist Travis Scott, Stormi Webster is spoiled in daily lavish gifts. For this reason alone, she’ll never have to worry about working a day in her life. Like her other Kardashian cousins on this list, Stormi also makes some of her earnings by appearing on the reality TV Show Keeping up with the Kardashians.
At the age of three, Stormi has had more extravagant parties than any other known human, with the events featuring carnival rides, a butterfly garden, a giant teddy bear wall, as well all customised food and StormiWorld merchandise. Besides her inheritance, Kylie also filed several trademarks under Stormi’s name, ensuring that she makes money by doing virtually nothing.
9. True Thompson
Net worth: $10 million (£7.4 million)
At the young age of three, daughter of reality star Khloé Kardashian and basketball player Tristan Thompson, True Thompson has made it on the list as one of the richest kids in the USA. While she regularly makes an appearance on Keeping up with the Kardashians and gathers lots of likes on Khloé’s social media accounts, True also has a hefty trust fund to fall back on!
Momager Kris Jenner forced Tristan to set this trust fund up after his cheating scandal once she was born – and we all know there’s no backing down from what Kris Jenner tells you to do! Within his signed contract, Tristan must add an additional $10 million each time he’s caught cheating.
8. Valentina Pinault
Net worth: $12 million (£8.8 million)
Valentina Pinault is the daughter of Academy Award-nominated actress, Salma Hayek and Kering chairman and CEO, Francois-Henri Pinault. Thanks to her celebrity parents, she currently has a trust fund of $12 million, which is likely to increase as she grows older.
At the young age of 13, Valentina is quite sheltered at the moment, but we can’t wait to see what she grows up to be and whether she follows in her mother’s footsteps of becoming a sensational actress.
Net worth: $13.5 million (£9.9 million)
Evan (whose last name is withheld at his father Jared’s request) is part of a father-son duo who have an extremely popular YouTube channel called EvanTubeHD. The duo makes their money off the three videos they post per week, where Evan reviews new toys. With over 7 million subscribers, the channel has accumulated over 4 billion views since starting out, which results to $1.5 million (£1.1 million) a year from in-stream YouTube ads alone. He also has his own gaming channel, which accumulates around $600 (£441) per day, so it’s safe to say that the 14-year-old has enough savings for a lifetime.
6. Dannielynn Birkhead
Net worth: $15 million (£11 million)
Dannielynn Birkhead is the daughter of TV personality Larry Birkhead and late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith. After Anna’s tragic death, when Dannielynn was just five months old, Dannielynn has been living with her father. Since she is the only living child of Anna (her other son Daniel passed away three days after his sister's birth due to a lethal combination of drugs), Dannielynn inherited her mother’s estate.
Besides her inheritance, the young girl followed in her mother’s footsteps and started modelling for fashion retailer Guess at just six years old, so we’re sure there’s more to come for this sweet teenage girl!
5. JoJo Siwa
Net worth: $20 million (£14.7 million)
Starting off on the reality show Dance Moms, JoJo Siwa got a feel for fame and was determined to become a worldwide sensation, going on to establish an entire empire on YouTube. Her talent and creativity allowed her to build two popular YouTube channels, which then led to her signature brand with tons of merchandise to sell. She is so popular that her products are sold in large stores across the globe.
4. Ryan Kaji
Net worth: $32 million (£23.5 million)
Ryan Kaji is one of the highest-earning YouTube stars in the world. Now the young star divides his time between making videos for his YouTube channel, where he unboxes and unravels new toys, and filming his Nick Jr. TV show Ryan’s Mystery Playdate. Who knows how Ryan’s channel will develop as he grows older, but what we do know is that his very first video of him unravelling a LEGO set will make him a lot of money for years to come.
3. North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm West
Ages: 8, 6, 3 and 1 (respectively)
Net worth: $40 million (£29.4 million)
It’s no surprise that TV personality Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West’s children landed in the top 3 richest kids of America – with superstar parents, they’re bound to have a large trust fund tucked away!
As well as making money off Keeping up with the Kardashians, the eldest sibling, North West, has also had a few gigs of her own; she appeared in a JoJo Siwa video and was featured on the cover of Beauty Inc. We have no doubt that she’ll soon be walking in her mum's footsteps with the launch of her own brand!
2. Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne Pitt
Ages: 20, 17, 16, 14, 15 and 13 (respectively)
Net worth: $300 million (£220 million)
Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children also have a large trust fund to share between them. Following their split, Pitt decided to set up a fund for their children to ensure they have something to fall back on and to take to ensure that they end up with his inheritance.
1. Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter
Ages: 9, 4 and 4 (respectively)
Net worth: $500 million (£368 million)
Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s children currently have a net worth of $500 million thanks to their superstar parents. Once twins Rumi and Sir were born, Bey’s pregnancy picture became the most liked image of all-time on Instagram. Even though their net worth is purely based on their inheritance, it will increase quickly if Bey and Jay were to strike endorsement deals for their children.
Before the rise of social media sites like YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat, this list was full of celebrity children, but in 2020, it’s clear that if you create great content and have a good marketing team behind you, you can make your own earnings and enter the same league as born celebrities!
