Venezuela is on the global radar like never before. But this shouldn't be a surprise, as many of the world's most famous people come from Venezuela.
1. Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera (born January 8, 1939) is a Venezuelan-American fashion designer known for her “exceptional personal style”, and dressing First Ladies from Jacqueline Onassis to Michelle Obama. The New York Times cited her designs as “elegant and worldly without ever being fussy”.
2. Juan A. Baptista
Juan Alfonso Baptista Diaz was born on 9 September 1976 and is an actor and model best known for his roles in several telenovelas such as La Mujer En El Esepejo and Pasion De Gavilanes. He currently resides in Los Angeles after signing a contract with St. Steven, a popular fashion company.
3. Borris Izaguirre
Boris Izaguirre is a Venezuelan-Spanish screenwriter, journalist, writer and showman. He was a finalist for Premio Planeta in 2007 with his novel Villa Diamante. He is considered one of the most important showmen, especially after his participation in the TV show Crónicas Marcianas.
4. Chiquinquirá Delgado
Maria Chiquinquirá Delgado Diaz was born on August 17, 1972 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She is a TV host, actress and model. She is famous for co-hosting Mira Quien Baila on Univision network in the United States. She recently launched her own fashion line collaborating with David Lerner which can be found online or at selected department stores and boutiques.
5. Miguel Cabrera
José Miguel Cabrera Torres (born April 18, 1983), commonly known as "Miggy", is a professional baseball player. Currently, he is the first baseman for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball. He is one of the best hitters in baseball and one of the best players of his era, known for his high power, speed and low strikeout percentage.
6. Oscar D’Leon
Oscar Emilio Leon Somoza was born on July 11, 1943, in Caracas, Venezuela and is a salsa musician. He is also an ambassador for “Operation Smile” and the author of “Lloraras” a famous song which he recorded with his group La Dimension Latina in 1975.
7. Gustavo Cisneros
Gustavo A. Cisneros Rendiles (born in 1945) is a Venezuelan-Dominican media tycoon; he is ranked amongst the world’s richest men in Forbes magazine with an estimated fortune of $4 billion in 2014. The New York Times stated that Cisneros is “one of Latin America’s most powerful figures”.
8. Edgar Ramírez
Edgar Filiberto Ramirez Arellano born on 25 March 1977 is a former journalist and actor. He stared in a lot of series such as Carlos for which he won the Cesar Award for Most Promising Actor and was also nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy Award for best actor. He studied communications at the Andres Bello Catholic University and worked in media at first, then considered becoming a diplomat but soon changed his mind and decided to pursue his hobby instead, acting.
9. Gaby Espino
Maria Gabriela Espino Rugero (born 15 November 1977) is a model, actress and presenter from Venezuela and is famous for her big roles in several telenovelas. She originally wanted to become a veterinarian due to her love of animals, she then wanted to study dentistry but eventually decided to become an actress.
10. Majandra Delfino
Majandra Delfino was born on February 20, 1981, in Caracas, is an award-winning singer and actress famous for starring as Maria DeLuca on Roswell and as Andi on the CBS multi-cam Friends with Better Lives. Her professional music career began in 1999 when she released her independent debut album “The Sicks” which received rave reviews. She is currently recording her third album.
Venezuela might be famous for its food, popular desserts and stunning tourist attractions with crystal waters but it also has a lot of celebrities.
