A three-time Ballon d’Or winner with a seemingly endless array of awards and accolades, Cristiano Ronaldo, is undoubtedly one of the greatest footballers to ever grace "The Beautiful Game". So, it should come as no surprise that he is also its most well-paid star.

Ronaldo earned around $80 million in 2014, making him the 3rd highest paid athlete in the world behind prizefighters Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. With a 5-year, $200+ million contract with Real Madrid and endorsement deals with such high-profile brands as Nike and Tag Heuer, the talented striker isn’t likely to find himself short of cash anytime soon.
But how does he spend his vast fortune? Here’s just a small glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the world’s highest-paid soccer star:
Ronaldo has made a hobby of collecting some of the most expensive and high-performance automobiles in the world. His greatest single purchase so far is a $1.7 million Bugatti Veyron -- the fastest street-legal production car in the world.
Other notable vehicles in the footballer’s collection include a Koenigsegg CCX ($500,000), Rolls Royce Phantom ($400,000), Ferrari 599 GTO ($385,000) and Lamborghini Aventador ($300,000). Unfortunately for Ronaldo, when you drive the world’s most powerful cars you’re bound to hit one or two speed bumps. In 2009 he splashed $320,000 on a Ferrari, only to write it off two days later in Manchester!
Ronaldo’s main residence is a mansion in Madrid’s exclusive La Finca community worth $7.1 million. The modern home -- designed by architect Joaquin Torres -- is built on 8,600 square feet and boasts seven luxury bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a trophy room and various lounge and entertainment rooms. For an extra-personal touch, Ronaldo had the initials "CR" etched into many of the house’s surfaces, including its door handles. Classy!
Before moving to Madrid, Cristiano rested his head in a $6 million Alderley Edge home in Cheshire, England. The over-sized 5-bedroom mansion was equipped with all the luxurious facilities a successful footballer needs -- swimming pool, sauna, media room, gymnasium, and a garage to house his collection of flashy wheels.
The Real Madrid star has become something of a style icon, and is frequently seen sporting the latest trends in expensive clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry. He has admitted to spending almost $150,000 a year to keep his lavish wardrobe updated, but manages to balance the books by moonlighting as an underwear model for Armani!
A humble philanthropist, Ronaldo frequently pledges himself to worthy causes -- particularly those concerned with the welfare of children -- and gives freely of his substantial income. In 2009, he donated over $150,000 to fund a cancer centre at a hospital in Madeira that had previously saved his mother’s life. He also sold his 2011 Golden Boot to raise over $1.6 million, which he donated to fund schools for children in Gaza.
So there you have it -- a little taste of how the world’s best-paid footballer spends his salary. The funny thing is, even with all his lavish spending Ronaldo is still bringing in money faster than he can get rid of it.
